Prayer and Fasting

Fasting. Fast and pray. Consecrate. Daniel fast. Partial fast. Complete fast.
These are just a few of the terms and activities that Christians participate in at the beginning of a new year. We’d like to know and hear what you and your church are doing. This one activity at the first of the year can be that one single act that will transform your year and make it the best year ever.

This week’s focus is all about prayer & fasting. “Join us this Sunday as we participate in our church’s annual 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting.” Leave a comment and share what activity you’re engaged in.

Happy New Year!

It’s time to share what we, Christians, do. #BeTheSohrs

What Do You Do to Get in the Holiday Spirit?

With the holiday nearing, Christmas that is, people generally refer to being or not being in the Christmas spirit. Maybe it’s hearing that special Christmas song that takes you there. Or could it be the one favorite movie you see each year at Christmas? How about that special treat that only comes once a year? Could it be the lights and the sounds that take you there? Whatever it is we all have something that places us in the spirit of Christmas. What is it for you? Share it with us and your world. Let’s do it together; let’s BeTheSohrs!

Characteristics of God

Today we have an easy, but good topic.  We’re sharing “Characteristics of God.” From loving to generous to selfless, this list can go on forever.   Forever, or unending, another characteristic of God.

Our list is not complete without getting the characteristics you love about God.  Why don’t you take just a second and share with us the attributes that come to your mind when you think of God.  It’s your opportunity to share with your world and do what only, we, Christians, can do-BeTheSohrs.

Let’s BeTheSohrs of Motivation for Others

The natural tendency of human-beings is to find fault and flaws in others.  It’s easy to bend towards and see the negative in others, especially those around us.  What a difference it would make if we, together, decided to ignore the negative and highlight the positives in others if only for one day.  This week’s #BeTheSohrs focus is “let’s BeTheSohrs of motivation for others”.  It’s time our time to do what we, Christians, do best, make a difference!

Share Your Favorite Christian Charity

One of the things that can make Sohrs.com (The Sohrs) better, other than you of course, is better content. What we want to offer our followers and site visitors is information about Christians that you can’t get anywhere else on the planet. You help us do this each week by participating in our BeTheSohrs campaigns. It’s our way (and has become many of yours) to let the world around know what Christians do. What makes a follower of Jesus Christ special. This week our topic is “Share Your Favorite Christian Charity”. We need this information and so do others. Also you get to promote a charity you deeply love.

Not only are you able to share your favorite charity on your preferred social media network (Facebook, and Twitter), but you’re also able to share your responses on our website at sohrs.com/favorite-christian-charity.

We look forward to hearing from you. Let’s do it together. Let’s do it now. Let’s BeTheSohrs.

How Can You Be The Light In The Workplace?

It’s a new day.  As Christians it’s time to take Christ to the workplace.  It’s the place where most of us spend the majority of our time and meet the majority of the people we know in life.  So how do we accomplish such a feet without doing a disservice to The Kingdom?  This week’s BeTheSohrs focus is “How can you be the light in the workplace?”  How can we shed more light in the place we spend the majority of our time?

It’s our time and that time is now for us, Christians, to do what we do best.  #BeTheLight  #BeTheSohrs

Where did you see God at work in your life today?

The most meaningful part of any good relationship is the interactions you have with this special person.  Maybe they bought you a cup of coffee out of the blue. Maybe they took you out to lunch. Depending on how close the relationship is, maybe they did something very small, but inside it was the largest gift you could have received.  At any rate, moments like this are precious. But did you know God does these things for us everyday? Today’s BeTheSohrs topic is “Where did you see God at work in your life today?”

Here are a few questions to help you think and share:

  • How did God show up for you today?
  • Describe how you saw God at work in a friend’s life today?
  • How did God play a part in your life today?
  • In what ways has God impacted your life today?
  • What area of your life did God work in today?
  • Give an example of how God impacted your life today?
  • Express how excited you were when you saw how God was at work in your life today?
  • Give an example of when you saw God impact someone else’s life today?

You’ll never know how important it is for you to share your thoughts and experiences with others.  Our world is waiting on us to show them what we, Christians, do! Let’s do it together! BeTheSohrs

Christian Alternatives to Halloween

We’re approaching Halloween; how do you feel about that?  This holiday has been controversial for Christians for quite some time now.  Halloween, if you do your homework, has its roots in both Christianity and the ancient festival of Samhain.  Nonetheless, most do view it as not having any Christian roots; what do you think? Share your thoughts and plans with us.

  • Share a picture of your carved pumpkin.
  • What are some Christian alternatives to Halloween?
  • Show us a picture of you carving a pumpkin.
  • Show us your Halloween decorations.
  • What treats do you make for Halloween?
  • What does your church do for Halloween?
  • Share your trunk or treat ideas.

Now is a great time for you to show your world what Christians do! Let’s do it together, BeTheSohrs!
