Favorite Bible

If you’ve been a Christian for a while, you’ve probably acquired a bible that’s your favorite. There’s nothing like having a favorite bible. It turns to the right page when you need it. You can find all the important passages you have marked, highlighted, or memorized. There’s nothing like having your favorite bible with you when you’re in the mood to read God’s word. This week at Sohrs.com, our “BeTheSohrs” topic is Your “Favorite Bible”.

Because we are in the business of sharing what Christians do (with the world), we want you to join us in sharing your favorite bible. We are asking you to…:

  • Post a picture of your favorite bible.
  • Tell about how you got your favorite bible.
  • Share your story as to why this is your favorite bible.
  • Offer some good study tips you’ve read from your favorite bible.

Remember the time is now. Get involved; BeTheSohrs

In What Ways Do You Spend Time With God?

There are so many ways we spend time with the people in our lives. For a spouse it might be a candlelight dinner. For your family it might be games and popcorn. For a small group, conversation and pizza. In the office, it’s meetings to discuss projects and issues. But how about God, what kind of time does He get from us and how do we spend time with Him? Maybe you’re a veteran and have creative ways to share moments with God. On the other hand, you might be new to the relationship one can have with God. At any rate, we need to hear about it. There are tons of people out there who would like to know. Christians of all ages, new and old. Here are a few suggestions we can offer:

    • How often do you find yourself in prayer?
    • Do you have a specific area where you pray? Share.
    • Tell us about your small group.
    • How often do you find yourself reading the Bible?
    • In what ways do you spend time with God?
  • Share a picture with your small group.

The point of it all is to share what Christians do.
The time is now, let’s do what we, Christians, do best–#BeTheSohrs!  Don’t forget to tag your posts with #BeTheSohrs or #TheSohrs.

Tell us about a (your) baptism experience.

Baptism, or proclaiming your acceptance of Jesus and expressing your connection outwardly so others can see, can be one of the greatest, if not the greatest, experience you’ll have this side of Heaven.  For some, it’s a celebration of a new life. For others, it’s a funeral for the old person they used to be. At any rate, it’s an experience worth sharing with others. In fact the whole idea of baptism is making a public expression of your faith to others, so baptism is sharing with others.  Here’s another opportunity for you. Our #BeTheSohrs topic this week, is “Tell us about a (your) baptism experience.”

Here are a few ways to get you started sharing:

    • Tell us about your baptism experience.
    • Where did you get baptized?
    • Explain a time when you witnessed a friend or family member being baptized.
    • How old were you when you were baptized?
    • How did you make the decision to get baptized?
    • How did it make you feel when a friend or family member was baptized?
  • Have you been baptized more than once?

Share Your Favorite Christian Athlete

The Olympics doesn’t come often which makes them so unique, but what makes them even more unique is finding the stories behind some of the most incredible athletes to ever compete in their respective sports.  Generally we overlook stories like these, stories of people, even “everyday-athletes”, who overcome incredible obstacles. This week’s “#BeTheSohrs” topic is “Share Your Favorite Christian Athlete.” Share your favorite athlete from any sport as well as their story.  Here are a few ways in which you can support not only “#BeTheSohrs”, but some great athletes that are even greater because they too are Christians:

Who is your favorite Christian athlete?
Youtube your favorite Christian athlete.
Share a pic of your favorite Christian athlete.
Tag your favorite Christian athlete.
Share a link of your favorite Christian athlete.

Back-to-School Support

It’s that time we love to hate (at least in the U.S.A.).  Our kids are heading back to school.  That means traffic will pick up and so will busy schedules.   Back to school isn’t all bad, it’s a good thing if we get past the small items that make it frustrating and inconvenient.  What if we together redirect our focus.  Here’s a “BeTheSohrs” topic to help make “back-to-school” more enjoyable.  Try to help at least one child by providing them with school supplies.  You’ll never know how much it means to a child to have the supplies they need or even want as they return to school form the summer.  It’s back-to-school time, but more important it’s our time to do what we, Christians to do best.  Make a difference; let’s BeTheSohrs!

Ways Your Church Uses Social Media

Social media has become a very big part of our lives. It reminds me of the introduction of text messaging to mobile phones. At first everyone was a little apprehensive about texting. Then before you knew it, it became our primary method of communicating with others. Well, let me be the one to tell you that social media is the exact same. It has become the primary way (or soon to be) in which we communicate with others. I’ve noticed that technological changes like this take even longer in the church, but we too soon adapt. This week’s #BeTheSohrs focus is…”In what ways does your church use social media?”

Here are a few questions to help you when sharing a response:

  • Share your favorite church’s Instagram page.
  • Where are the Facebook lovers? Share something from a church you follow.
  • Tweet a quote, a song, or a thought from your church today.
  • How is your place of worship using social media?

Be Intentional In My Relationships

You know “normal” people wait for their relationships to form. The Bible however, has many examples of how relationships are established, nurtured, and maintained. Relationships just don’t happen by accident. They require a little bit of intentionality. What would happen if you made it a habit to be more intentional with your relationships? What could be possible? Today’s #BeTheSohrs focus is “How can I be more intentional in my relationships?” This is a fine time to join in the conversation and share your experience. Maybe someone doesn’t know where to begin. Whether you need an example, or suggestion, or have plenty to provide, the time to do it is now! #BeTheSohrs

Who’s Impacted Your Life?

People play important roles in our lives. Many times we take it for granted. However, there are those very few who make the biggest difference in our world. One day at Sohrs.com we will be able to connect those positive influencers to all those that have been impacted by them. But for today, we will use this social media post and email campaign to simply acknowledge someone who has greatly impacted your life. Today’s #BeTheSohrs focus is “Who’s impacted your life?” That person may have been your Sunday school teacher, a coach, a high school teacher or a close family friend. Let’s do what we Christians do best and share the gospel-the good news about a person who’s played a big role in your life. The time is now; let’s do it together. #BeTheSohrs

Something to Be Thankful For

Whatever you’re thankful for has the potential of being your next miracle.” – NoLongerCommon.com

Most don’t understand the power of thanksgiving. It’s hard to be disappointed, when you’re thankful. It’s hard to be stressed when you’re thankful. It’s hard to be dissatisfied when you’re thankful. There’s power in being thankful. This week’s “Be The Sohrs” focus is on finding something to be thankful for. We only ask this of you once a week. Let’s show the world what Christians do by being thankful, one of our greatest characteristics. The time is now; #BeTheSohrs!

4th of July Tribute

We are celebrating one of America’s greatest holidays-Independence Day; otherwise known as the 4th of July.  Regardless of where you are or where you’re from, we all have special days and holidays that we celebrate. How do Christians celebrate their holidays?  I would bet that Christians know how to have a good time and the rest of the world stands the chance of learning a few things from us.

What are your plans this 4th of July (weekend)?

How are you celebrating?

How will you make this weekend any different from the rest?

With this week’s BeTheSohrs topic, we’re showing the world what we (Christians) do, this “4th of July”!  Happy Independence Day in The United States of America.
